Dad: Five years you've been gone.
For the first time, there is laughter in your house on this date. Your grandchildren are here, and your six-month-old granddaughter has a captive audience. It's been a long time since anyone laughed like this. Mom answered the phone barely able to talk, the little one had her held so hostage by her cuteness.
I won't be there today. I can't; must work. But I'm thinking of you, and happy that there is laughter on Mom's most somber day.
Love and miss you.
